Ohio parks face $600 million in renovations and general lack of upkeep over the last ten years. However, 2014 will see various renovation goals around state parks starting in July for the next two years.
Money being spent to make upgrades cannot be used to plug failing budgets in Ohio’s three largest cities. The money designated for rural parks will not help: homeless, unemployment, run better schools, police and fire departments.
In fact, it is a shocker that Gov. John Kasich hasn’t found a way to privatize this for giving more tax breaks to big businesses.
