A Pennsylvania man named David Good, 25. finally sees his mother after 20 years after three years of rasing money.
His father Kenneth Good met his mother Yarima, of the Venezuelan Yanomami, when she was between the ages of 9 – 12.
Tribal custom stops counting at the age of 2 and she was offered as a wife to Kenneth as a member of the tribe.
Yarmima rejected the western world 20 years ago and returned to the home in the jungle where she had been born and raised.
David is now an East Stroudsburg University graduate and his life influenced his decision to launch the non-profit “The Good Project.”
Good hopes to manage dialogue between modern civilization and indigenous people with little contact or knowledge of the outside world.
This is a mother’s day story we can all appreciate across the world.
