Carver police officer David Herriman reacted the way any dog lover would hearing about an underwater pooch.
Herriman took off his duty belt and plunged into a sunken truck and rescued the puppy from a sunken truck without hesitation.
Herriman left after the rescue to change clothes and go back on duty.
Debra Titus of Plymouth, Herriman arrived around 3:40 p.m., while Titus’ Toyota Tacoma sank under 8 feet of water.
One dog named Moochie swam to safety on its own, while the frightened Chihuahua named Stich remained trapped.
Fortunately both dogs will survive and no latent secondary drowning seems to have affected the animals.
Herriman, a dog lover, himself owns an English Bulldog.
It is a very rare event to capture a glimpse of heroic attitude by police officers. Especially with the latest puppycide trend happening across the United States.
Our hearts go out to you Mr. Herriman. Thank you for your service.
