Ohio Rep. John Becker (R-District 65) introduced a bill HB 351 to strip women’s contraceptive right to care and treatment.
The HB351 is co-sponsored by Ohio Representatives Ron Hood (R-District 78), John Adams (R-District 85), Ron Young (R-District 62), Jim Buchy (R-District 84) all men.
Not one single female has co-signed or expressed support for the bill from either side of the political aisle. From the few calls that were exchanged with house staffers.
HB351 has not gotten out of the committee meetings to begin hearings which resume in early September.
While explaining his views Becker offers no logic behind the decision to craft and introduce the bill or its language.
Sec. 1751.68. (A) A health insuring corporation shall not provide coverage for abortion services under any policy, contract, or agreement that is issued, delivered, or renewed in this state.
Sec. 3923.591. “(A) A sickness and accident insurer and a public employee benefit plan shall not provide coverage for abortion services under any policy of individual or group sickness and accident insurance or under any public employee benefit plan.
(C) As used in this section, “abortion services” includes drugs or devices used to prevent the implantation of a fertilized ovum. “Abortion services” does not include treatment or services related to an ectopic pregnancy, commonly referred to as a “tubal pregnancy.”
Language worded from HB351, i.e. ‘contraception’ and ‘abortion’ are listed as nothing to do with health care, when the life of the mother is put at risk and the victim of child rape.
The bill also would prohibit medicinal delivery devices and treatments such as the inter-uterine devices IUD contraception and birth control medicine for patients that opt-in for treatment.
Ohio’s HB351 is a bad bill and looks crafted by organizations in favor of child rapists and the deaths of mothers from still birth.
