A leaked memo of Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) GMO Talking Point threats aim to steer States’ politicians away from protecting their voters.
The GMA/GMO memo dated January, 22, 2014, threatens political leaders with an act of legal corporate intimidation disguised as legal advice.
“VII. WHAT IS THE RISK TO YOUR STATE OF ADOPTING A GMO LABELING LAW?
• The first state to implement a GMO labeling law will be sued on the constitutional grounds seen in IDFA v. Amestoy.
• Litigation in this area could be long, costly and will probably be decided by the Supreme Court.
• Your state would proceed with almost no regulatory or scientific basis for a new unique labeling requirement.
• Your state would proceed despite not being a part of the “trigger” mechanism required in the Maine and Connecticut legislation.”
‘That’s a nice State of the Union you got there, I’d be a shame if anything were to happen to it,’ about sums up the GMAs position on the ability of state’s citizens to label GMOs.
Do you hear that proverbial rumble in the distance over the recycled thirty-second news sound-bites clips that are being driven by the millions of people forming a strategic alliance to topple the institutionalized corporate dominated power structures here in the United States?
If you do hear that rumble, then the GMAs time is limited. If you do not then continue to sleep as if you are part of the Status Quo whose days numbered.
Work at the grassroots level has already begun and an alliance with many eyes and ears are on the ground and in places of power.
This alliance will begin to dismantle the mechanisms of structural power piece by piece, until the people have regained dominance over global multinational corporations and elect governments made responsible to the people.
Very soon even the emperor himself will have to deal with us…err, I mean President Snow….um, I got that wrong again.
