INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) – A grassroots movement is growing. Moral Mondays started in North Carolina as weekly protests. Other states have taken on the movement, and now it is here in Indiana.
“The idea behind Moral Mondays, which is kind of an odd name, is that a lot of people who do not approve of the arch conservative government of many of the red states are trying to take back the label moral,” Laura Marland said.
Marland was one of several Lafayette participants to travel to Indianapolis for a rally and a march from Crispus Attucks High School to the Indiana Statehouse. Reverend Doctor William Barber II, who started the movement in North Carolina, attended Indiana’s first rally.
Participants said they want their legislators to listen to the issues they have.
